Stocard is gone. What now?

What happened to Stocard

Stocard, the loyalty-card wallet used by millions across Europe, was acquired by Klarna in 2021. The standalone app has since been discontinued and is no longer on the App Store — its features now live inside the Klarna app.

If you search for “Stocard” today, most of what you find are unrelated apps that adopted the name. The original is gone.

Your options

There are three honest paths, depending on what you want:

• Klarna — the official successor. Your Stocard cards migrated there. It works, but it is a shopping and payments app first; the card wallet is one feature among many.
• Catalog-style wallets (SuperCards and similar) — closest to the old Stocard flow: scan a barcode, pick the store logo from a catalog, done. Choose one of these if that lightness is what you loved.
• Cards2 — a different philosophy, described below. Your actual cards, photographed. No account, no ads, no tracking.

Cards2: your cards, not a logo list

Cards2 has been around since 2010 — it predates Apple Wallet. The series has sold 130,000+ paid copies in Japan, and the app is now free to try worldwide.

Instead of picking a store logo from a catalog, you photograph the card itself. The photo straightens automatically, the barcode is read from the card (or scanned and typed in by hand), and at the till a checkout mode shows the code full-screen at full brightness. Compatible cards can be added to Apple Wallet.

No card in your hand anymore? Attach the code to any image you like. There is no store catalog, though — if you want logo-picking convenience, one of the catalog-style apps above will suit you better.

What you get in exchange: your data stays on your device, encrypted, with iCloud backup. No account to create, no offers, no ads, nothing tracking what you buy.

Who Cards2 is for

People who still carry cards worth keeping — loyalty cards, membership cards, insurance cards, clinic cards, transit passes, even trading cards — and who want them organized beautifully rather than reduced to a logo grid.
